I heard this cover of Blue on Black performed on an Agile AL200 and fell in love with this tone. So much that I bought a ToneLab in hopes of reproducing this tone with my AL2000. I've played it through my Fender Mustang on multiple settings and on my Silkyn with many variations on the Tonelab. Does anyone here know what it might take to get this tone? Doesn't necessarily have to be settings on the ToneLab, perhaps a Blues Driver pedal or some other pedal? I wanna get this tone!!! I can't play as good as this guy,but I can try.

Yeah, I sent him a message, but that video was recorded 5 years ago and I doubt he remembers the exact settings. Still waiting to hear back from him.

He's using P90s. All I can hear is the f*ckin buzz. I hate them so much.
These words you speak may be interpreted as treason Don. I urge you to reconsider and recant.

But if you will not, what do you hate so much? By "buzz" do you mean good old Rock & Roll breakup?

Nope, I mean the mains pickup buzz that is there the whole time. When I stop playing I want my guitar to be quiet, not sounding like the building has an electrical fault. And no, I won't recant. I have a Strat for single coil sound. I want my Gibsons to sound like Gibsons.

You're partly right about the buzz. That guy has a problem. It bugged me too, but the tone is there.
I NEVER have such noise coming from my P90s, except if I'm looking for it. If I was to have only one guitar, it would definitively be a P90.

And about a P90 Gibson not being a Gibson, you should read your Gibson history.

My second ever Gibson was a junior with a P90 - I knew no better back then. Since I learned about humbucking I won't have anything to do with them. I regard them as a flawed design.

Once again, I am shocked and a tad disillusioned, my open and fair minded friend. How is a Gibson "supposed to sound"? Does this mean that an HB which is also subject to buzz must never be put in your Gibson? Must they all be potted too? Are they prohibited from having a split function?

As an aside, was not the 1954 LP equipped with P90s?

Understand, this is just me being ornery. In my mind the Gibson sound is the humbucker. I know all that other stuff is perfectly true, but I just can't be doing with the P90. No real idea why.
