Great family photo..

I have learned that my FAV SG's are usually the players.. and not the lookers.. just seems to work out that way.. curious.. nut width on the AG young models must be 1 11/16.. but the "Thunderstruck" looks narrow? I have a 76 SG with 1 9/16th nut which i really got used to .. works those quick ope chord changes fast.. but the neck is rounder.. more shoulders and get bigger up the neck for sure.. love that neck feel the most.. my SG-62 has a wafer thin neck.. plays great.. but feels differently.. action on that guitar is easily a hair under 3/64th's with NO BUZZ..

i am not sure on the original AY model, but the later ones def have the 1 9/16 nut. Took me a bit to het used to as well, but a fantastic player. Once you play that for a while and then pick up a 1 11/16 nut you have so much more room. I would describe it as playing lazy.

I know it's not a real reissue but the '67 SG Special Reissue which was part of Gibson's 2007 "Guitar of the Week" series, as week #37's guitar, has been my favourite so far. Neck is '50s Rounded profile.

I came down from 6 to 3.
The other two are both Standard HPs but without the bling and robot technology.

I would like a Standard with Firebird pick ups.

If you love them all then keep them all. Whatever you get rid of you'll regret it.

Thanks Papa, I always loved this guitar atheistically as well. I just never knew how well it would play. It has a thicker neck on it, not quite a baseball bat, but a good thick neck. And because of that I find it so easy to play. Chords can seem lazy compared to the 61 slim taper, or easier yet compared to the 1 9/16 nut of the Angus Young model. Another point to note on this particular one is the absolute Stunning MoP split diamond. There is so much color and variation in it. It just flashes the light as you catch a glimpse. The only headstock more beautiful that I have seen is my Sheraton, which has greater color variation. But both are beautiful in their own right.

Despite the large amount of time I spend on this site, occasionally I almost miss a model release. Such was the case with this limited run of 400. I found out about the GOTW after it was already released and scrambled to locate one. My local retailer brought in a B stock guitar, neck repair, but it was not a clean repair nor was the price right. I rolled the dice on an online purchase from the USA with my fingers crossed. I could not be happier, it was a man absolute winner from day one. That was 14 years ago now, hard to imagine!

The MoP is really hard to capture and photos don’t really do it justice. But this headstock is drop dead gorgeous

Are you sure this is real MOP inlays?
A nice picture,

Answering only the question in the title of the thread, I'd say so long as you have enough space and money, there is no upper limit.
Christ, if Leno can have a trillion cars in his garages or hangars, I don't think a hundred guitars is that big a deal.
My place is a bit small, unfortunately, and I've been looking to get rid of a few guitars that just don't really matter to me anymore. I'm at the point now where I'm thinking "Why keep anything that isn't the upper-tier?", barring my Epi SG and LP and my ESP LTD F-401 FM. Everything else that doesn't have a single-piece slab body just might get handed off to other people. I need more room, dagnabbit.

It's been reported that Keith Richards has over 3000 guitars.
I wonder how many are SG's ?
And do any of them SG's have the killer "Huntroll mod" ? (see pics).

Cool Faded, 2016 ? N E Way, I haven't modded a GIBSON in over 20 yrs..They are good enough for me, stock. Unless they have 490's. So I have to ask, what is the 'HUNTROLL MOD"...From the looks of the pictures it has something to do with the Neck Pickup Volume and Tone Pots, but I could not say exactly what.

I thought you'd never ask, (see pic).

It's the total phase reversing of the bridge pickup that makes it so unique.
And when in single coil mode the bridge pull-up switch also selects the other coil to be hot.

I can't imagine an SG 'collection' that didn't include a P-90 Special, a Junior, and a mini-humbucker version. I've been up and down the 'wiring mod' road so many times I now find myself getting lost along the way! My last 2 guitar purchases were a 'new' SG Jr, and a PRS SE ONE! I'm now at the 'keep it simple' stage. It doesn't get much more simple than this 'one'. I probably wouldn't have it had I not had to send my new Jr back to Nashville after only 4 days of ownership! Oh well...
