"all serials beginning "00" are from 1967", so that would make those '67 RI.

I've been away from the forum for awhile. Mostly just spending time with the SG I bought back in January. In fact I love it so much I just got a 2nd one. This one is a 2001 with the more reddish finish and deeper bevels than my '06. See if you can spot the difference. I got the 01 fro close to a grand, but I just found out the guy I bought it from got it for 660 on ebay back in feb. Glad he made a profit at my expense.

Here's the "new" '01

and the "old" '06

Got mine today but I don't know if it's 61' or 62' reissue.? Ser. # 002992
Looks really aged like TCs. Still setting up to my style and I'm not used to that bridge. Sounds pretty good so far.

Wow, congrats! Beautiful guitar. I didn't realize they aged '61/'62 RIs. '57 classics for pickups?

I'd like to play if I could. Some recent pictures...nothing special, just a bit better focus ;D.

I'm still learning how to take pics. It's hard to believe this is the same guitar as the one I posted a few post back.

I'd like to see some photos of the different neck joints on the RIs.

I found out something intresting on the Gibson site.I didn't know but when there makeing the neck its planed by hand for the finishing touches. So every neck is slightly different.Which would explain alto. :coolsmiley:

I knew that they were made on a CNC machine then sanded on a belt sander by a human.

On the 4 SGs I have, all the necks are different. The closest is the SG-3 and the Standard. The joint is about the same type but the step between the neck and body is noticeably larger on one. I figured with all the inconsistencies with the RIs, that there would be differences in the joints also. The one with the larger step does look like it could have been sanded a lil more to make a smoother joint or maybe this was by design. :dontknow:
