yeah, ol' Les Paul's original thought on the subject was that he wanted the
guitar to be like a piece of railroad track with strings on it. Ridiculous and he knew it
and loved to joke about it, but that was the ideal. So that the resonance would
not be a factor, only the string. He made an early electric guitar out of a 4x4, and
fastened acoustic guitar "wings' on it just so it would look like a guitar and not a
fencepost.
I'd be curious if Les Pauls have any dead spots.
Once you are thinking about it and go searching, you can find frets that are slightly less resonant than others. The effect is subtle though, not like on the SG.
