hey guys i have a question....its kinda weird.

ok so i always heard epis have veneer tops and such. and i was totally cool with that when i bought it...i knew what i was doing...

but i notices a few days ago when i was just going over my new baby and wondering how it could be so beautiful...there was a slight flaw in the finish... the finish is very very thin in one spot for some reason, and i can like...feel the woodgrain on the bottom horn. is that normal? its kindof a big spot too. does that mean its not veneer? has anyone ever had this on theirs too? i mean im not upset at the flaw its cool, it gives it character....i just wanted to know...

I don't know about past manufacturing, but the G-400's in current production are solid wood
. . . not necessarily class-A mahogany, but real wood nonetheless

Solid mahogany. Dot.
No veneer.
And 1 piece solid neck! Unlike in LPs and other SGs.
Recently I took mine to a luthier to polish a bit. It'll be beutiful - like a real Gibson!

I don't think the G-400s have a veneer. What I have heard from other owners is that the bodies are usually mohogany (sometimes alder), with a maple neck.
