oh yah, I've been dealing with them for over 10 years.... you gotta check prices on grill cloth, but they have a huge selection, and their customer service is really good. I had a guy spend 20 minutes with me on the phone, just to find out what socket I needed for some obscure flash tubes i got. 5 pin, assymetric socket. They had em!
cool, I had been getting stuff like logo's and knobs from tubesandmore, I'll have to check out their sockets... I've been using ampwares for sockets, pilot lamps, etc, so I'll look at their ceramic sockets, when I get the other parts. I also like ampwares for pots and caps.
ampwares... I've had the WORST customer support from Mark .. I mean the crapola worst.
Vic got in two chassis for the Champ projects - one had bad welds. I called, no answer. I called every half hour during his "open" days and times for a month straight. Never an answer. I left messags, no calls back, finally his message box became full, and it still is. I faxed him. No response. I emailed, no response.
That was back during the entire month of September, thru the middle of October. Here it is November, and I finally caught him "by suprise" on the phone. He agreed to replace the chassis. Frikkin finally get thru. I called back a few minutes later... no response. I called back from a different phone (different area code) right after I hung up from using the first phone, and he answered.... again quite startled. He confirmed his address.
Guys - stay away from this dude, bad news, no support. I hate to say that... but thats the way it is. I completed Vics amp while mine was on hold. And was ABOUT to go get some expensive (like $38 a box) copper rivets to "make do" and decided to give old Mark on last call. Glad I got thru, but I still dont even know if I'll get a chassis back from him. We'll see.
Thanks for the heads up cb. I've done several orders from him, and although always complete and what I asked for, it seems like it takes forever to get the stuff!!!
Maybe I should reconsider getting the pots, etc from him!!!
While reading this post I was still trying to get the dumbarse SG PS/2 game thing from Redoctane.

Thank you for the email. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Due to the fact that the order was on hold, due to a bad credit card authorization, the shipping was delayed until the system could authorize the charges with the correct confirmed billing address. Your order will be shipped immediately. Please track the package tomorrow. We apologize for any inconvenience.
and I checked today and no tracking information yet....buggered again....this why butt rape doesn't bother me anymore...happens all the time to my poor old sphincter....
I feel for ya spunks, I went to weber for the parts for this amp project. Ordered on the 14th thinking weber is always quick -- the parts have still not shipped - so no building of the amp over the long weekend... > weber...
Sometimes ya win and sometimes ya get screwed.......
At least Weber is honest and the product is as it is without substitution or compromise.
He is an honest fellow and sometimes the order volume and time is too much...Sometimes the holidays and needed time off are measured with delays in expected inventory/stock replacement.
it is a small business so there needs to be a bit of patience. I do know the project needs tho. Without the projects, I'd have gone nuts a long time ago.
Check my post in another thread...not sure where yet...good stuff tho!
I still think weber's okay, its just last time I ordered from him the stuff came right away - I was just wanted to have something in the "back pocket" to do this weekend if "I needed a change of environment"!!!!
Here's another one of those "time capsule" vibro champ chassis that I bought for this project, I thought he first said he had 25 for sale, now only a total of 15... get em while ya can - mojo makes a nice cabinet for em too!!!
finally got this one off the ground and running - to bad its 12am and the better half doesn't want me cranking it up!!!
Since I've only goofed around with 6v6 single ended stuff, I'm on new ground with the el84 - I've got about 290 on the plate and idling around 30ma, I think I'm in the ball park.
Its going to need some more tweaking too - with three gain stages and a cathode follower theres plenty to fiddle with!!
The 1meg in the middle of the board I've already swapped out for a 3.3meg, looks much more usable on the scope, will have to check it
out in the morning!!
