I like that they made the plain wraparound intonate flawlessly by recalibrating the frets. The neck heel smoothing out too (could have gone further here). Things like that are excellent refinements.

You know what would be cool? An RD with the old active harness. I bet that would do well with younger players.

And yeah, the new heel was long overdue for spreading throughout the line from the Axxcess models.

Look it up at 22:10
Listen and he says they did it a few years ago. unspecified when. Interesting trivia but not very relevant in the real world, even if true.

The TV Yellow LP Special with 50's neck has always been my favorite LP model. Refreshing to see they are finally reissuing it as a regular production model. When it was flipped over in the video at 20:13, I saw that it was equipped with the same Gibson Deluxe tuners having small buttons found on the SG Classic and Melody Maker which use the same footprint as the keystone versions. Very cool as it gives you the option to use either version without drilling holes.

If you've been trying to sell one, you know how many are out there on the used market. Why would you spend nearly two grand on a new SG special when you can get a nice 2000-2003 for $500 or less?
The only reason: Because I want a new one. I know I am pretty alone here with this opinion. Used guitars just don't appeal to me. Might change at some point...I don't know.
As SG Standard said, the question how many people think like this can be quite important for the future of Gibson.

Judging by the photos others have shared on here, you & me are not so alone in liking new guitars!

Last year, in the space of about 10 days, British guitarists spent around £750,000.00 on one model of Gibson custom shop R8! Gibson achieved those sales by knocking money off 300 R8s they wanted to clear from their inventory. That's a lot of money being spent in a short time on a single model.

These were being sold for slightly more than the typical 2nd hand values. Bear in mind that R8 owners tend to baby these guitars, and they're intended to have an 'old' appearance from new. Clearly a lot of people were keen to grab themselves a new bargain, even if an 'old' one would've been cheaper. We get called consumers for a reason. ;)

I like that special so much! I have zero need for a P90 guitar (having four - ugh!) but that special looks so amazing! Great color, thin binding, better intonation that older ones.
