I just picked my first ever American Stratocaster
in Olympic white w/maple neck.
Plays beautifuly BUT as I figured sounded thin and wimpy at rehearsal.
So I decided to build the guitar I always thought should be.
I call it a California Hot Rod
Similar to the Big Apple Double Fat Strat, only with real pups. And nicer neck.
Sperzel tuners
Burstbucker Pros
3 possion switch
CTS 500k pots
orange drop .22 caps
1 volume
2 tone, 1 per pickup
Had to do some major routing in the cavite to get the pups to fit.
Stew Mac double hum white 3 ply guard
chrome knurled knobs.
Should make a formatible 2nd ax
Wife has camera out of state
photos to come shortly

which one is that then? I thought you'd modded all your guitars... unlike me who has kept them all stock, might get me a cheapie strat and have a mess-around some day.

My classical is completely stock.
Dan, I finally flipped the control plate on the Tele.

I don't think you should leave a guitar you love stock, there's always ways to make it better. After the holidays, I should have enough money/parts to do my planned mods to my SG Classic. (It's finally been given a name, Little Red)

neat! MauritsP let the volume swells begin!

I'd like to contest that Rooney. I love all my guitars and all are stock wired. and have stock hardware. I refinned one Strat and my SG is refinish from a bare strip to a nice Cherry.

But you do have some cool guitars Dan, I wouldn't mod your Gibbo and Lado if I had them. It's just that sometimes its nice to change something to your needs, even if it's only a very easy-very reversable mod, like flipping the control plate. I agree that not all guitars should be modded.
BTW Dan, I've returned the strat to almost original so that isn't that much modded anymore.

Damn right, if your not selling why not change it to your own needs. What are you changing Rooney?

Tuners are gonna be Grover Kidneys, I've already changed the TRC to a blank, I'm planning on a TP-6 tail, Lindy Fralin P-90s, and the knobs and toggle switch have been changed. (White tip and witch hats) Somewhere along the line I'll change to a bone nut as well.
