Picked this beauty up in a trade for the Stratocaster I was trying to sell. It's my first Gibson Les Paul and I'm loving it!

I had 5 Strats so no loss there...

Here she is...

OK then I'll try those! Iwas not sure which ones after some research I was thinking a mix of Mullard for the 12ax7's and JJ's for the EL84's...

I have a buch of old radios and record players from the 50's...may go tube stealing...I think my old Motorola has 4 EL84's...

Perhaps you need to be next for the Magic Tube Box of Yumminess ......I went through and tested all of them....I liked the Peavey vintage tube and the Electro Harmmonix the best. It was a ton of fun to swap and try.

Very cool what you think it weighs.
I just got the same heritage cherry but its a epi standard plus top LP
I guess its about 8.5 feels light compared to the L malia.
going to change out the bridge the nut and bridge pup
and see how it goes.

Love the Epi's too! I had a sweet Epi T+ prior to this but it was as heavy as the Malia...the Gibson is weight relieved and I believe it's just at 9lbs. I'll weigh it next week.

Tube swapping is fun as long as I don't have to bias them all...hope I have some good ones in my box-o-stuff...

How do you like the Probuckers.......compared lets say to a Gibson 57 pup? And do you feel the push pull deal worth it or not tonally speaking?

This thing actually has Classic 57 and Super 57 pickups and they are awesome...it also has push/push pots with a 15db boost circuit and coil splitting...if you remove the battery from the boost circuit it becomes a kill switch...

I haven't had enough time with all the new features to form a solid opinion yet...will I rewire it...who knows...

My Pelham Blue SG Custom has PB2/3 in it and they're great thick sounding pickups. Good for rock and blues. The Classic 57s are much brighter to my ear. The PBs definite work well split, where they have lots of bass / mids to start with, so the splitting gives a nice brighter tone.

What's with the back pickup? Is it just the photo, or are the polepieces not lined up with the holes? Looks like a cover from a 57 Classic + with a regular 57 Classic inside. Check the resistance, 57 + should read around 12K ohms, 57 is in the 7-8k ohms.

Nevertheless, a sweet guitar.

The bridge pickup is a Super 57 which is a little hotter than the 57+ from what I've read. The pup cover is the wrong size and it's coming off next week. I'll verify the pups, but I'm pretty sure they are original.

Removed the pups tonight to get those covers off. Both are marked as they should be. 57 Plus and Super 57. I'll post some pics tomorrow. The thing is with these pups, they both need a neck pup cover to fit the slug layout correctly...

Cool. The cover thing sounds right, it's only recently and on a few models that Gibson had different spacing for pole pieces.

Good luck with that beautiful instrument.
