Hi All

An opportunity came up to get a reverse firebird at just the right price. I am a blues and rock player and after seeing Johnny Winter with reverse firebirds over the years as well as other artists such as Clapton in his Cream days and Paul McCartney although I think his was a non reverse model I always had one on my list.

I like the unusual but captivating design. This one is a MIK made in 1999 and is in almost immaculate condition for its age bar some nice natural aging of the chrome hardware. It seems to be a nice quality guitar although a bolt on neck but a good test if I find I get on with this Firebird then longer term I may look for a Gibson set neck version in a nice sunburst.

I may also do a few mods if I bond with this one such as faber e-serts and a Gotoh bridge I have spare and also install a new wiring harness using CTS pots.

I may also switch the pickups out for some other mini humbuckers, anyone got any advice please what sound good in Firebirds for blues and classic rock?

Anyway here are a few pics thanks :)

Nice looking Firebird, dude! :thumb:

Gibson reverse Firebirds are neck-thru construction, as opposed to set neck. Lovely guitars.

Firebird and mini hb pickups are very different animals. Firebird's have blade magnets instead of pole pieces and are most often ceramic magnets.... Where the mini hb is essentially a smaller version of a full sized humbucker

The firebird pup's are brighter and more aggressive.

For mini hb's the duncan antiquities are a big upgrade from Gibson's stock mini's. I have installed gfs mini's for people.... They are hotter as advertised and are very impressive for the money. Magic? Probably not.....but pretty damn good.

Thanks all for the nice comments it is certainly an interesting beast I think I like it. The pickups are actually growing on me too so I may just leave those alone and switch the wiring out instead as I have some CTS pots spare.

Once finance and my wife allow I think I will pick up a Gibson set net version in a nice sunburst or something :)
