I have been without a decent rock guitar for awhile, so when the opportunity to grab a USA Dean V came up recently, I jumped at it. It is a 2004 Dean Professional Series V. Walnut satin lacquer finish, Duncan JB/59 pickups, Tonepros bridge and Grover tuners. The V is stellar. So easy to play it's almost criminal. Satin necks are SO FAST. It is also the only V I have ever owned that had a tummy cut and that is fairly killer too. This one is love at first note. Fat sounding and screams like a banshee...

It's nice man, but I just can't see past the head stock. Dean head stocks are just ugly! Other than that, it's a really nice guitar! Sorry, just my opinion...

Hell its even in my favorite color ,Black.those Nickel covers on those Duncans look killer on the black.ive seen worse lookin headstocks than the Deans lol.Congrats man.i always figured if i was to buy a odd shaped guitar it would be a V.my kid had a Dean explorer and you cant set it down and lean it up against the amp cause it would just fall over.the V now on the other hand will sit up.

It isn't black, but a really dark walnut color. You cannot get the color to come out in a picture. Even in person you need to turn it just right to see the color. The finish is very much like the satin finished Gibson's. You can see and slightly feel the wood grain. It is a very thin finish and the guitar is really resonant. The shiny spots where your arm rests and around the knobs are just polished by playing.

As far as the headstock shape, I could really care less. I love the Gibson shape more, but this doesn't really excite me either way. It looks more metal with the split headstock I suppose, but it isn't visually displeasing to me.

All that really matters in the end to me is how well it plays and how good it sounds and it gets an A+ in both those catagories.

I cannot believe just how good this guitar sounds through my amp! I had a 96 SG Standard with the finish stripped and a JB in the bridge and this sounds just like it. I have missed that SG ever since I sold it and now I finally have something that sounds and plays as well as it did. I need to get the neck pickup setup properly so the sound is balanced, but that is the only issue so far (besides a wonky treble pickup volume pot that I need ot change). KEEPER

Man, nice axe...it almost makes me want to play a V sometimes.

Naaaaw, it doesn't - but still a nice guitar for somebody other than me.
