Hello, What is everybody's opinion on the ES-339? I am figuring out the next guitar I should buy and love the 335 but they are more expensive. So, my choices is the Gibson ES-339, Gibson SG 61 Reissue and Gibson SG standard.

I am leaning toward the 339 because I don't own a hallow body or semi-hallow body guitar yet. I play Blues, and alot of different forms of rock. Also, since the ES-339 is a custom shop guitar would it be better build quality than Gibson USA 61 reissue even though the Reissue is $100 more?

played it and hated it feels small for a hollow body kinda toy like has a sound in between a 335 and a LP but doesn't relay sound like either! id stick with the 335 or just go with the 61RI best bet is to get to a shop that has all of them and see what fits!! the 339 may be just what you are looking for but you also may hate it! the Epiphone Elitist Casino and Elitist Sheraton are relay nice too and much cheaper! some new Pickups and tuners and your in business!

I might just stick with sg's. My faded isn't enough of an SG.

Is the sound good? Cause I have watched http://youtube.com/watch?v=6XcENImac0g and the Gibson Video and there is a blues tone there. Any comparison's with this and an SG Standard? I am looking for something maybe other than an SG, I love SG's the most, but looking for more of a Hallow Body bluesy tone. I like gretsch guitars too, but I don't want to spend over $2000.

Nice Larry! be sure to add some pics when it comes in. I've been tempted by them but a lack of funds and the fact I have a 335 have kept me from pulling the trigger (so far).

I just brought home a new 335 two days ago after playing both. I really dug the 339, but it just felt too small for me. It lost some of the sound that the 335 has. Still a phenomonal guitar, just not my cuppa joe. In the end, if you want one, try it somewhere first. Let your ears be your salesman.

I usually go to Guitar Center in Rochester NY and they usually dont carry that much. One time I went there they told me that the SG body style doesn't sell as much as other guitars. They most likely wont have a 339 but I guess I could call them and ask and then try it myself.

I tried one and really liked it since I prefer smaller bodied electrics. I placed an order for a carmel burst and hope to have it in a few weeks. I'll post pics along with a full report.

I am looking forward to your review Larry. I really liked the size and playability of the 339 I tried, but wanted the resonance of the 335 more. I didn't get a chance to really turn the amp up at the store where I was playing and wondered how the 339 would sound at club levels. A fantastic guitar though man!

Chasbo, nice looking 335 you got there. Got any more pics? I'm a sucker for those holllow bodies and have one myself. Yours looks a little different color shading wise than mine but it might just be the pic was dark.

That's a pretty good representation of the color. Here are a couple other pics...

Here is a shot of the front and back of mine. Mine is also pretty flamey like yours but the main color looks different. I like the color on yours... looks sharp!

You know, I have no idea. I just assumed it was a vintage sunburst LOL.
