Questions about a “SG serial” website project

I wonder what made them decide to change the shape of the pickguard so slightly. You'd think sharper points would make it look very precise and aggressive, but I suppose the more rounded points have a little more modern and refined feel. I really hate the '70s style small pickguard though, the tip is way too rounded.
I would make the same assumption, the rounded points make it look more like a Stratocaster.

I have identified another two early 1961 LPs! They were sold by ATB around 2018. Not much is known about them. According to the seller they have a 4 digits serial numbers and are 13 serial number apart. As they have the long guard, the brown case and the stepped heel they are most likely in the 2000 or 6000 range.

The seller says it "is a factory original polaris white", which is very exciting in my opinion!
