Neck pickup looks like a Gibson.
The bridge pickup is aftermarket. I’m guessing it’s not boutique by the wire they close to use.
Neck could be Gibson, but in that model it should have the plate on the bottom to mount to the pickguard no?

Does this pickup cavity look like it's been routed for a humbucker and then oversprayed?

Doesn't check out... look at OPs first pic... no screw holes on either side of pickups.
yeah, I'm OP, that's my concern. Pickups and guard have been changed. Classic should have the bracket on the pickups to mount to the pickguard.
These pickups don't have that, the bridge pickup doesn't have the sheathed wire, and the pg has no holes.
The asymmetrical route in the neck pu cavity has me thinking too that it's been routed and oversprayed.

Pickups should look like this attached to the guard right?

Just got this nice 2010 SG Classic. Not sure if the wiring is stock -- it looks a little different from others I've seen. Anyone else have one and care to have a look in the cavity?
Shouldn't this be wired like a Les Paul with the caps connecting between the vol and tone pots?
(And which models had the PCB? Not that it matters...)
I have a stash of nice PiO caps here and might try rewiring it 50s style anyway, but would like to check.

@devnulljp if I type out your nickname is it d e v n u l l j p?

Here is my Classic which at this time, I obviously can't compare controls on mine because it has the PCB. My memory has it as a 2008 with Made in 2008 year stamp on the back of head stock. My Faded SG is a 2005, but I can only date it by the serial.

This is how the guitar came to me when I bought it 2nd hand. It had the Gibson Deluxe Tuners on it, which I thought odd because of seeing all the others with the white oval buttons. I swapped these tuners onto my '89 3 Knob Black Special because that one had worn tuners. Then I ordered a set of the white oval ones for my Classic.

I’m just adding to what others have said. My Gibson SG classics have a larger body route to accommodate the side height adjustment tabs found on these P90 releases. Of course there are dogeared and soapbar, and these are a funky Gibson hybrid which don’t even have a gibson stamp or identification. Mine also have the unaltered 50’s style wiring from the factory… 2nd tone lug ground to pot, third tone lug capacitor to vol pot ‘output’ 2nd lug.

You still have a fine SG even with modifications, as what’s under the hood doesn’t matter if she sings and plays well. Unless you’re one of those fanatical purist collectors that need all-original to justify the investment. Or those that tell you which period correct upgrades to buy. I don’t know anyone on this board like that…

Thanks for the pics -- that's helpful.
My name is an old unix joke -- /dev/null is a virtual destination you send stuff to make it disappear. It was supposed to be a virtual personality to ward off spam by sending it to /dev/null, but it stuck
(jp because I was living and working in IT in Japan at the time)

Not a purist, I have no problem with 'issues' guitars -- all my guitars seem to have issues -- just not happy being sold a parts guitar w/o knowing about it or reflected in the price.
I'll prob keep it though and put some new guts in it, as it feels and plays nice. Anyone tried Vineham pickups? (I'm in Canada). This way I get to put a phase reversal on a push/pull pot too, which I couldn't do with stock pickups.

Thanks sir, I was just making sure I type enough l's in there if I go to type a message to you.

Also, can you tell us the serial number or post pics of it on your guitar? Does it have 8 or 9 digits?

I found a sold eBay listing for an 06 Classic husk.

Dan, I see the Pickup routs in @devnulljp guitar and as he mentioned the screws for the scratchplate barely grabbing in some places, I saw the results as an oddity. Like the neck rout is larger than on my Faded with Humbuckers, and like this 06 Classic HUSK you pictured. There is plenty of wood at the neck join for the pick guard screws.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with Classic's wiring, but I always have a concern about neck angles on set neck guitars.

Here is a shot of my SG Classic. How do yours compare? For all of you Classic owners.

Let's go back to basics:

Q1 - what do you have already?
Q2- what, if anything, do you WANT to replace / repair?
Q3 - if anything beyond simple repairs, what are you trying to achieve?
Q4 - what, if anything, are you PREPAPED to replace to achieve that?
