I really like the SG Classic's tone with the P 90's through a VOX AC 30. There's a real sweetness of tone on single notes that really seem to blossom as you hold sustain. The neck is mid sized and feels just right. I originally was looking for a special with small guard and P 90's -  but the classic is a real fine guitar and the "Bat wing" guard looks just fine. The new faded SG Special with the uncovered humbuckers and "Batwing" guard was almost mine first but just had to get the Classic. I'll probably get the faded Special next. If you haven't tried one the SG Classics, give it a try, they are cool. Here's a picture of the one I just bought.

Thanks,
I was going to post a picture of a 1965 SG Junior with Vibrola but I wanted to make sure I knew what size was OK. I borrowed it from a friend while I'm waiting for the Classic to arrive. I tried one locally then purchased a real fine used one and I'm waiting for it to arrive. The 65' SG Junior with the P 90 does the same thing in the VOX AC 30 I have here at home. :coolsmiley:

640*480 is a good general size but usually no one complains if it will fit on one page without scrolling.

I have a Classic and I run it through a Vox VR 30 (I'm pretty sure it's a VR, I want an AC 30 though) and the sound is amazing. I love my Classic/Vox mix, the P-90s are raw and the notes are crisp with the first distortion mode on. You should enjoy your Classic if you like your Jr. The neck pickup will open you to a new world if you've been playing that Jr for a while. Hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy mine.

the guitarist of a band one of my buddies is in has a classic, that sound is just awesome! on their demo the sound is good but live it blows you away, I really need to get my hands on one of those classics or a guitar with P90's...

Is your new Classic as dark-red as it looks in the picture? The only HC SG's I see now are bright red/almost orange in color... I have a 96 SG standard that has the darker (now called wine red) color (see avatar) and I have an SG Classic on layaway (for only 3 more days! yes!) but its that newer light red HC color. I think only MF and GC sell Classics now days. Is it just a dark pic or is the guitar more of a wine-red color? If so... where did you get it?

My SG Classic has a very red back of the neck. The picture is deceiving. I love the tone of this guitar but I wish it had a darker wine red finish.
