So my sg isn't playing as well as it used to/I'd like it to. Actually... its not even really that, its just not sounding very good anymore. The strings don't sustain as much as they used to, it seems. Also, if I'm playing up on the 10+ frets, they make a "clacking" sort of noise. Its hard to describe, but its kinda like instead of a nice ring, when I strum a string it sorta makes a dead bland sound and clacks a little. The action is pretty high, so I'm pretty sure the string isn't hitting any frets. (its higher than my strat, and my strat is fine). It happens on new and old strings, so I know its not that the strings are old. So...

A.) What could cause this? kinda sounds like a bridge problem to me. What do I look for?
B.) Can anyone point me to a good link on how to set up a guitar, like what to look for in the truss rod, etc.

Oh, and I'm using Ernie Ball super slinkies (.009's), which sound awesome in my strat/danelectro (but I don't use em in my strat anymore).

Thanks

get a tech to set it up for you if you can.

also, heavier strings give you a better tone, but can be lots harder to play. i recommend 10's. not to stiff, but give you a solid tone.

Guitar necks change so easily and often, that it's clear a setup is in order. Get used to it, actually. And I agree with 10's. Just make sure the tech knows to set it up with 10's as this is very important info for him. Also, tell him how you like your action setup. Another important item of info for the tech.
