Do any of you mechanically minded members have a remedy for this minor issue? The input jack on my guitar frequently loosens from weather related changes and/or repeated cable plug-ins/disconnects. My normal fix is to remove the backside cavity cover, carefully grip the input jack with pliers from the backside and then tighten the input jack nut with the proper sized socket. I use care not to over tighten the nut because doing so will cause the entire jack to rotate in its cavity despite a firm grip with pliers. I don't want to stress wires or soldered connections.

Anybody have a similar issue? Would blue Loctite applied to the input jack threads or possibly a lock/wave washer of some sort located under the nut or in the cavity provide a fix? Or is this just a common occurrence that needs routine attention?

(It's an output jack. The amplifier has the input jack). The best solution is probably a wavy washer on the outside and a star washer on the inside. But you can tighten these things pretty thoroughly. Just make sure you hold on to an appropriate bit on the inside so you don't twist off the contacts. Buy an appropriately sized socket wrench for the outside nut. Pliers will inevitably slip at some point and gouge the finish.

My 2011 SG Special output jack loosens often, in fact i just tightened it a couple of days ago. It seems to do this no matter what I do. But I can live with it.

Using a cable with right angle plug helps reduce any stress on the output jack to keep it from coming loose once it’s tightened.

Thank you for the tips!

I visited the hardware store today and purchased one of each kind.....a star for inside the cavity and a wavy for the nut. Unfortunately couldn't use both because the jack threads didn't protrude through the body far enough to start the nut. Used only the star but upon reassembly realized the jack threads were partially stripped and wouldn't snug up w/o slipping.....cheap pot metal. Gonna replace it with a better quality jack. Appreciate the tips though donepearce.
