He started doing pot and stuff when he was young teen, heroin when he was 19, as well as cocaine and other drugs, which led to his addiction to smack. As well as excessive drinking, which has caused him to have a heart defibrillator. Thankfully he has gave up all of that stuff since 2006.

I guess he had enough at some point!

I think it makes perfect sense. God doesn't give everyone everything. I mean no matter how good Slash's life may be, he defiantly was dealing with a lot of hard things in life.(drug addiction etc).

Who knows? Maybe he would have been happier as an educated man in collage. But then there would be no GnR!!!

I got nothing against the dude BTW.

I do find it amazing, and have discussed with other folks how, do you notice the "stars" and uber wealthy always seem to have these drug problems and huge mega "marketed" life problems and stresses and horrible things that happen to them (usually all fixed by GOBS of money) but they still whine and complain about how HARD life is for them........while getting off their private plane for a sabbatical in San Trope ......and then you throw up because you would like to punch them in the face rather than look at them???? No? Just me?

I would like to have Slash's talent, would love to have his money....but I prefer my little ordinary mundane problems of life, like how to replace the struts on my 99 Subaru because I can't afford to pay a garage to do it and they are SHITE........yea, after that I will need to sabbatical in San Trope......my butt.
Sorry to rant all over yer post Sandman

But many POPULAR again UBER wealthy musicians have not fallen pray to the drugs and addictions of that world. It can be done, of course Gene Simmons pops to mind (his addiction is CASH) .......so , eh I have run out of steam......

Cheers

It also is tiresome hearing Hollywooders, Models etc. complain about how hard their work is, how draining it is to stand in front of a camera and pose, or work on a movie for 3 weeks, then take a vacation to some place I'll never go to for just as long.

Wah, freaking wah. Come slog it out with the rest of us for 40-50 years, 45-49 weeks a year, while raising children without nannies, fixing our own stuff cause we can't pay someone to do it, etc.

Oddly I need struts on my 01 PT Cruiser as well.

IMHO, those career choices draw addictive personalities. The ones that tend to not have drug issues etc, are typically people that A) Know they are very lucky in the lottery of life B) Just want to make money at it OR are doing it for the 'craft', in other words not for fame, recognition and similar.

Fairly sure my car won't make it down there lol. If I would stop buying gear, might be able to save up (after the Ex gets her blood money off the top) for a new car.

Nah.
