Subscription email!!

'To enhance the security of the ETSG Forum, all members will be required to use a valid, subscription based email account. Free, web based email accounts such as GMail, Hotmail and Yahoo will not be allowed. Members will have until March 1, 2007 to update their profile with a valid subscription based email address or they will be unable to access the Forum.'

I only use hotmail and have done for years, my ISP does not provide me with an email address so the only way for me to access this forum in future is to pay for an email address I will only use here. It looks like on the 28th of February I will have to bid you all farewell. What a load of crap. >

I don't see how it enhances security for the average end user. Perhaps it's a good idea as a requirement for those who wish to sell items on the forum, but not for the regular Joe.

Same here. I just PM'd Admin about it. Maybe all us hotmailers should have ourselves a going away party....

It does not enhance security for the end user.  It enhances security for the Forum.  It helps prevent Spammers and Hackers from causing problems by registering with easy to use free email addresses.

The email addresses are only used to re-activate your account.  You can use a friend's email address, a parent's email address, work email, etc.

They changed their business model a couple of months ago ... people were leaving in droves ... so now it's free. So I guess if AOL is allowed, everyone can go there and set up a new account.
