Well, it's about time to post something on this forum also (I usually dwell at MLP).

I finished my lefty SG(ish) project a while ago and just wanted to say thank you to all you guys, as without the info I've gathered from this site I would been in big trouble finishing the project. :applause:

So, here's so pictures of the dirty and mean little rock machine.
(Made without powertools by a first timer who has never held a real SG in his hands before. :naughty:)

And if you want to know how this came into life, here's a link to my build thread @MLP.

Poro78 -- That is one amazing build thread. It was a big read, but I went though all of it, or at least I looked at all the pictures. A long time ago we watched a French member do a build with mostly hand tools, but yours might be the first SG build where everything was done by traditional methods. Congratulations.

I don't suppose you can guess the number of hours it all took? Is this something you might want to do again?

Thanks! I've been lurking here for a while, but I haven't had anything to say. :thumb:

Woah, that looks wicked!!

That is really the reaction I wanted this guitar to have. Thanks! :thumb:

My inspiration was MLP member called Barnaby. I had abandoned my build for about year and a half because I had no space or power tools, but then I read his build threads and thought that I too can build without power tools and a decent workshop.

It took me about 6 months, I did it about 1-2 hours daily so I guess it took about 300 hours. The inlays took most of the time, I think I spent almost a month making them.
I'll be building some more, with traditional tools of course (well, I might get a Dremel tool for inlays)... My friend wants me to build a guitar for him and I guess that project starts in December.
Of course I'm itching to build LP also, but I have to get couple more builds before I'll build something with carved top. :)
(SG Diablo would be nice also... some day. :hmm:)

Kiitos!
Finnish language is really nasty for those translators, but message came through. :thumb:

(And not jet-powered, just plain regular reindeer. :naughty:)

Poro, really cool guitar and impressive to make that without the help of power tools. Also cool to see you are from Finland... I'm 50% finnish too!
