I had my cherry Gibson SG stolen out of my car in 1973 during my senior year of high school. It was an early 60's model, but I have no idea what the serial number or exact year it was. My dad bought it for me from his brother when he came back home from Vietnam in 1969 when I was 14 years old. His brother had played it in a band before he was drafted. Keep posting your serial number out there and maybe one day it will show up.

I hate thieves.
I actually have the guitar and serial number tattooed on my left arm!
The serial number is also etched into my mind!

Those repairs would not but me in the least. If they were done well structurally, the guitar likely has more structural integrity than when it was new. Sometimes I think Gibson should just pre-break/fix/finish the headstocks on all its LPs and SGs since it's an accident waiting to happen. The heel break is rare and more of a freak thing. I have an '87 Reissue '61 LP/SG Custom that was originally white until the clearcoat yellowed -- a lot! -- resulting in a classic banana yellow just like yours. It got to the point where I thought it was just too ugly and so I did a refin in Polaris White (which looks like a slightly aged Arctic White) and am super-pleased with the outcome. The yellowed SGs are so common that of course there's no real call for a refin unless you what your white guitar to be... white. Great story on yours -- super good vibes and a terrific SG! Congratulations.

That is a beauty!
Well I've had this thing for a week and can't stop playing it! I took it to band practice on Tuesday plugged it in, stepped on the Rat pedal and the drummer said "Holy $#!+, that things a BEAST!".

Yup. A beautiful beast indeed!

Yes
It was one of the rare times we let him speak!

Actually he's a really good guy and an excellent drummer. He is in a wheelchair and has to do everything with his hands.
Listening to him play, you'd never know he doesn't have use of his legs.

So I did some digging and research. I forget the week, but the pots are from 1977 and the serial number checker says it was finished on January 24 1978 in Kalamazoo.
Neato! I now have 2 SG'S in my collection of 4 that were out the door in January.
I was playing tonight and realized this guitar is the sound of Budgie! It's set up like a Steely Dan session guitarist would probably want it. That's what I tell myself anyway!

I'll just leave this here...
