I would say, just get the black paint off of there if you can without damaging the original finish too much. After that, get a proper setup and then play the piss out of it .

The whole idea of bringing it back to collector status is just bogus. If you can make a player out of it, make it look OK and keep it out of the hands of a Scumbag collector really, you did good.

My refrett on my 78 was done more in the style that Martin uses with the way the frett ends are addressed which makes it not original and less desirable to collectors. A real win in my book.

The Op's guitar is just about perfection, imho...
(although that useless clip-on tuner needs to be thrown away... :D)

Oh, IDK. But maybe. At the time I guess I thought I was posting about an abused SG that was spray painted black. My bad.

It used to be painted in black house paint adn was totally abused. Nice memory!
