I agree. But everyone has their influences. If it weren't for bands like The Clash and Green Day, I probably wouldn't have discovered the Les Paul junior.
god bless the clash!! i was lucky enough to see them with the who, way back...

You mean 'Take Five' by Brubeck? Has a nice drum solo.

If you're interested in Mingus try to get hold of his album Mingus Ah Um, esp. the song 'Better Git It In Your Soul'.
It was just called 'five'. The band name escapes me at the moment though... I studied it for like 8 months and I can't remember the bloody band! :D

Ahhh! That's it! .... Miles Davis!

yeah angus was great for his time, and he revolutionized music to a point... just with the whole overall sound of the band. but lets be real, lets be real. compaired to a million others, if we were all being REALISTIC... angus wouldnt make a top 100 list of the most amazing guitar players.

I think he'll go down as one of the greatest, though. I know he's not the fastest guitarist in the world, nor does he have a 15-necked guitar, but he sounds good and that's all that matters.

Errm, 'scuse me matey... but did I just see you compare AC/DC to limp bizkit?
....And I thought they didn't allow offensive material on this board :-\ ()

Angus is definately one of the best ever. What qualities do you attribute to make the best guitarist ever?

and Angus is allright but you're wrong in thinking he's the AC/DC sounds Malcom is a huge part of it too. and Jazz is a fine style of music. big fan of Gypsy Jazz myself,a nd ofcourse Davis and his gang of cronies.
i hate these comparing guitarists, and who is better than who >:( ...everyone has got different musical taste...some guiarists have technical skills up the butt, others show heart and soul, and are entertaining to watch as well as listen to..imo, rock and roll wasnt meant to be technical stuff from the get go(the 50's -mid 60's), it was 3 chords and catchy lyrics..then jimi came around(late 60's) and really changed that..then everyone was concentrating on more on solos and speed, and songs got longer to show the bands skills off...i can rant about this forever, and though i dig a lot of the zeps, and zappa, grateful deads, i still love the basic 3 chord rock, and thats why i love punk the most... ...and im heading into other stuff subject-wise..what i like about angus, is he kept to the basic idea of rock and roll, and added his own way of playing it, and noone does it like him...he puts everything into those basic chords, and his 'chuck berry on acid' leads...though i love jimi, zappa, page, townshend(my favorite all time),and iommi..ect, i love the guitarists like angus who are showsman and stick to what rock and roll was meant to be imo..theres no way to rate guitar players in a poll anyway..especially rolling stone magazine, which has in the last 25 years become a joke and a yuppy magazine, again IMO....

see hes not even the whole reason acdc is great. and I'm not sayin they aren't, and I'm not saying hes not a good guitar player either. he is, hes not bad. but i mean, I'm just SAYIN... look at all the great guitar players out there.

and yeah, if Angus is a top 100 guitar player, limp bizkit is a top 100 band. (LOL!) ;D

I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just havin fun discussing the whole thing

I think you're underrating Angus a bit. I like his sound overall. Very clean, not too overdrivey. And his solos are all bluesy. I think he writes them on the minor pentatonic blues scale:

Oh, and I found out he was #96. ;)

Isnt AC/DC on the top 100's band list? I remember not to long ago there was a website where angus was #46 or somewhere around there out of like 200 guitar players. Anyways angus probably didnt have his guitar with him at the time of the photo so he went out and bought a cheap guitar that almost looks like his.

Hey, The G400 isn't cheap, trust me. And that's clearly a G400. G400's are great, but IMHO the Fadeds are better due to the fact that it's may in Indonesia instead of China like the normal $400 G400 and the Alnico V HBs.
