For guitar center, that's a good price, about what I'd expect to pay a private seller. That means they gave some poor schmuck about $240 for it.

I do not have a gripe with GC, just pointing out their policy of buying instruments for 60% of what they plan to resell it for.

I don't know much about these 3 knob jobs.

What can you tell me?

I'm going to GC today to pick up a NEW 2014 SG Standard 120 LE that I was just lucky enough to find for 799.00.:wow:
I happened to have some time to kill so I stopped in there last week. Up on the wall was a new SG Standard marked down for clearance for 799. I asked the kid behind the counter if I could have a look at it.
No buckle rash, minor spots in the pg but no other scratches, chips, dings or signs of play wear.
I know I was irritating the kid because I asked him like 3 times if it was NEW!! I practically made him promise.
I say LE because it isn't the small pick guard with the mineEtune but full pick guard and regular Kluson tuners. There were only 360 of these made. Half of them black and the other half red. It still has the 120th anni 12th fret emblem which I like and 498t 490r pups. This one: http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-USA/SG-Standard-120.aspx
I put it on layaway because I have some pedals and a couple amps I'm going to bring in to knock a few more dollars off.
I'm syked to say the least.
I already have a 2014 but it's the regular Standard that came with the mineEtune and small pick guard.
For 799, I couldn't say NO. Could you?

I bought one of the SG 120's (full batwing and Kluson tuners) about two years ago, but paid $1,400 new. Great guitar...the one I play the most of the ones I own.

That's being kind. Maybe $240 credit. Maybe.
Paying 60% is their math. If they buy a guitar for $60 they will list it for $100. Nationwide store policy.(They pay $1 extra for the case, so I screwed em on a jumbo archtop and kept the $180 custom case.)

that is historical for the SG special from the '60s, as well as the Les Paul jr
and Melody Maker and some of their other less expensive guitars.

But people swear by that early Gibson bridge. Owners of vintage guitars boast
about its tone. Intonation is crude but effective, by which I mean that it's not elegant
but it works.

So that's a very interesting Gibson for a very attractive price.
