All right, we've been accused of running a stale and uninteresting forum, and let's face it: we see a lot of the same bull-taco over and over. Complaints about Gibson pickups, complaints about Gibson QC, complaints about neck shapes,
...somebody bought a new Gibson and it just isn't good enough for them... oh boo hoo hoo.

So let's revive the "Girls with SG's" concept.
We used to have a thread with this name, on THIS forum, and it was a hoot. Let's have no nudity, no porno, but lots of hot chicks playing SGs.

Les Paul never cared for the SG, so I think Gibson should issue a "Mary Ford tribute SG" honoring the fact that Mary

cool, I didn't know Chrissie played an SG... I always saw her with a blue telecaster.
But many women guitarists love the SG... they enjoy the lack of weight, the dependability
and the ease of playing.

Never cared for the SG yet there are a number of photos of him (and Mary) with them. I suspect he was still under a promotional contract clause. Not clear on when exactly he swore them off.

I've read that he thought they were garbage. Didn't like the way they looked or were built (neck to thin body like a piece of plywood). That he took one look at it and said 'no way'. I have a suspicion that if this is true, the combination of this still being the conservative times of 1961 and him being an older gentleman, and the guitar looking quite radical, along with it not being as "substantial" as the LP all probably turned him off strait away. He wasn't wrong about the neck/thin body connection and Gibson had to make some changes a few years later to beef that connection point up. Pete Townshend could eliminate the Vibrola and just shake the guitar instead since it is so thin.

Good points. Yet with all of that it still became popular and a huge seller. Look no further than this website. My first real guitar was a brand new 1971 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty but here I am with ten SGs! I am obsessed.
