How do you eat this thing!

For the last step, I put it under the broiler so that the top is crisper. I like to put a little guacamole or sour cream on top.

Do you guys think my bevels look somewhat anemic in my avatar? I am concerned. Maybe i could Photoshop them a bit.

No man! No knives or hard feelings from me! I must use the smile :D more often, to show people I'm not angry when I type sometimes! On the other side, I hate to deal with the bevel police, when I want to say the ''b'' word here lately:rofl:
The thing is it's been an issue that certain parties have taken too far, which again, I mentioned in the rant.

I like whatever the contours of my 10 year old Faded G400 are. I'd probably like whatever other SG that clicked with me had be they the exact same or 2 point whatever degrees different in some way. Sharp point, chisel, whatever. I'm not so wound up in pedantic minutiae that I loose sight of how the instrument "comes alive" in my hand before I so much as set a pick to an open string. If it does that, it could have bevels cut by two different drunks after the factory holiday party for all I care.

The fact that some people have taken their preference to the point of denigrating the current production models as essentially blasphemous is mind-boggling to me. These individuals spare no opportunity to vent their spleen about how they're "insufficiently" or "incorrectly" beveled - when they're being made by the same parent company based off a CNC pattern taken from an exemplar. Just because the guy on the second Monday of June '68 had a wild BBQ the day before and sanded the angle a little deeper (or shallower) doesn't mean it's the holiest of holies. If you dig it, cool, but for the love of six strings and rock don't pontificate about some made up superiority.

Is that too much to ask?

WARNING: RANT
The following is NOT meant as a personal attack. It's intended merely as a general observation with some venting about some recent comments.

What is it with some people and bevels? You say how you think €pi is going "more Gibson-like" while some other guy gripes about how modern Gibby's ain't got good bevels anymore......

Who's playing the blasted bevels?! It ain't like ₱√¢¡™ nibs where it can possibly affect the playability! (Though you'll notice that €pi don't play that game.)

Don't like 'em don't buy 'em! Or take a file and a friggen' pencil sharpener to 'em! I, for one, don't care and don't want to hear about it!

If it feels good, plays well and clicks with me, I'll buy it. If not, I won't, but the last bloody thing I care about is the 2.17459° or whatever difference between an old Gibby and and a new €pi (or Gibby for that matter).

END RANT

Sorry, back to the topic at hand. It's nice to see some Worns with binding again, though any issues in King Henry's kingdom probably have less of an impact out in the Epiphone Hinterlands. It will be interesting to see how the $500+ million debt gets settled and if current ownership / management remains in place.

So CONTRARY to what you said, can someone make a "bevels" thread that explains all the different bevels so a newb like me can understand? Please! LOL

Without pontification? Possibly someone like @Col Mustard might be a worthy candidate.

Seriously? What you're saying here is you can only think of ONE person on this forum who might "possibly" be able to post on the subject without pontification. I find that quite an insult, but it says a lot about what you think of my posts, and those of everyone else on this forum who has expressed an opinion on the subject.

If it does that, it could have bevels cut by two different drunks after the factory holiday party for all I care.
And that's the problem, isn't it: YOU don't care, so YOU can't allow any of us to care - we've all got to be just like you, or you'll start kicking off with rants and histrionic fits any time the word appears in a post. Just try to understand that not everyone in this world is like you. The OP said nothing offensive about anyone else's SG, there was no call for a rant here, so why do it? If you're trying to shut down all talk of bevels on an SG forum, well, you've got a steep hill ahead of you!

To understand why it's become so relevant in recent years, you might want to check pictures in the first post in this thread.

In 2016 Gibson USA produced all of their regular SG models (not limited runs) in two versions: 'Traditional' (T) models and 'High Performance' (HP) models. Their publicity shots showed quite deep bevels on the whole HP range, and noticeably shallower bevels on the whole T range - despite deeper bevels being more traditional, i.e. featuring on the early 60s SGs. When the models were updated for 2017, the same thing happened, so it's obviously quite deliberate, but no one really knows exactly why Gibson have done this - there's no other 'stylistic' differences to the Faded, Special and Standard T v. HP models, so it's a little bit puzzling. Every other difference between the ranges is clearly documented by Gibson.

For 2018 Gibson have dropped all HP models apart from the SG & LP Standard, which, in the case of the SG has also now got major differences between it and the Standard T - including a flame maple cap, side mounted jack, 24 frets, no pick guard, etc. But Gibson have retained the shallow bevel body style across the rest of the SG range.

Obviously, opinion is somewhat divided about the relative merits of different body styles, their historical significance, etc. (Deeper bevels tended to go with angel wing pick guards, shallower bevels with bat wings and no bevels with LP-style pick guards). But unfortunately, we have one individual here who insults the current T models every time they're mentioned, including in NGD threads, which is a boorish and tedious way to behave. Sadly, it seems we now have someone else acting up every time bevels get mentioned.

But hey, it's a really friendly forum!

The ignore function is handy, but it makes some threads difficult to follow.

Honestly, I don't know why people bother arguing with close minded people over trivial subjects. :hmm:

I'm going to play my SG now. :dude:

Wait, you're not honestly butthurt because I picked only one name? I picked the name of possibly the most level headed guy on the forum to START a thread on this subject.
The Col. has proven to be a fount of real world information around here and can calmly detail things in his admittedly wordy manner. He doesn't preach, he states facts and can express his opinions without undue bias and still be respected.

And that's the problem, isn't it: YOU don't care, so YOU can't allow any of us to care - we've all got to be just like you, or you'll start kicking off with rants and histrionic fits any time the word appears in a post.
It was a RANT! It was prefaced as such at the very beginning! It was me venting an opinion about people getting SO WORKED UP ABOUT MINUTIAE.

Jiminy Tapdancing Cricket! People have opinions. Wow, good for you and them. That was never the bloody point!
I'm just sick of hearing about how one guy hates all bevels that aren't EXACTLY to his specifications.

As I've said before: You don't like 'em? Don't ************* buy them! It's that simple. They don't sell....maybe they get changed back. Who knows.
Just try to understand that not everyone in this world is like you. The OP said nothing offensive about anyone else's SG, there was no call for a rant here, so why do it? If you're trying to shut down all talk of bevels on an SG forum, well, you've got a steep hill ahead of you!
For your information, I said I wasn't going after the OP in the rant warning I've repeated that fact a couple of times in the thread! I even PM'd the OP to tell them the same thing IMMEDIATELY AFTER POSTING. For crying out loud he liked the post!

I express an opinion about one or two individuals fetishizing bevels to the point of personal annoyance and everyone reads it like I'm talking about them. Do YOU randomly post on other peoples' threads about how you dislike the bevels on their axe?
No? Then I wasn't talking about you! You go have a nice day and don't worry about it.

But unfortunately, we have one individual here who insults the current T models every time they're mentioned, including in NGD threads, which is a boorish and tedious way to behave.
Are you kidding me? That is exactly the point I was trying to make! The crux of my rant, the raison d'être of this whole cockamamie thing!

Read - don't skim.

Edit: <defeated tone>
I never set out to start crap. I just wanted to vent for two minutes about some BS.
I put a warning out stating my purpose, I PM'd the OP explaining what I was doing and still....

You like bevels a certain way, good for you. Don't beat others over the head with it that's all.
:io:

Jeez, calm down and quit shouting!

First, you now say you were going after 'one guy' (rather than multiple people you've been mentioning so far), so why didn't you respond to him? Why not comment on one of his prolific posts, rather than randomly starting a rant in any old post that happened to have 'bevel' in it? Wouldn't that have been a bit more appropriate? Or even start your own thread, if it's such a big deal to you.

Second, I noticed what you said - but did you notice your post was the first reply the OP got? Means nothing to the rest of us that you sent a Private Message immediately after you posted! All we see is your rant as a response to a post. Nice job Raiyn! Should tell you something that you had to send a PM immediately after replying to someone, does that sound normal to you? And you're wondering why you get a response like this.

Back to the topic at hand, I would not trust that there will be more made with binding. If you want it, order this one. (before my willpower cracks)
