Absolutely not an SG and not even a Solid Guitar but it's here to cure my GAS for a jazz box and I think I'm feeling the love. It's a Korean made D'Angelico. Model EXL-1SH. Bought it used. I know these things give the "Original" D'Angelico purists fits but all I know is that it plays like butter up and down the neck, sounds fantastic plugged in or not and was relatively affordable. Actually got it on Wednesday but just got to cleaning her up and putting on new strings.
And the obligatory pictures:
Edit: It's worth pointing out that the nut seen below is bone and it lifted right out after removing the strings. Could see that it had a small dot of glue on it as it should have. A nice thing if the uncontrollable urge to try a chunk of something else for a nut overtakes me, that I can do so without destroying the original. Removing the very glued in corian nut from my SG about required bringing in blasting caps. Had to be removed in chunks.
Here she is in her birthday suit ready for her bath:
And what's up with this inlay? Got yer alien landscape in there.
12th fret inlay complete with escaped nose hair.
Even has bling on the back of the headstock.
Korean made or not, this thing is a keeper.
