So you actually ordered it?

I ordered it, and they have accepted the order and sent the order to Paypal. I haven't received the Paypal bill yet.

I reckon, once I get it here and pay some transportation and import tax, the cost will be $1200 or more. Thus, I'm gonna think about it for a couple of days, but an SG standard in the UK is $1850 and even then you can't find a left hooker.

So, I still really like that P90 standard for under $1000, but if the shop don't get back to me then that 70s tribute is a good option. I asked on a new thread, but maybe I should ask here too:

That Tribute doesn't have a case, but the shop sells Epi cases (I'm pretty sure Epi cases work for right and left handed SGs); has anybody put their Gibson SG into an Epi SG case? Does it fit?

Edit to add: I can get a 50s tribute or 70s tribute at about the same price; any thoughts or preferences?

My '70s tribute is currently in a Epiphone hardshell case. I'm not crazy about their HSC as they seem a little flimsy to me. My other SGs are in the cheap $60 cases form GFS which seem sturdier and work better for guitars with trems on them. But are a little loose on regular SGs and need a little "pillow" of some kind to hold the body tight.

You really can't go wrong with a 2013 '70s tribute, a '50s tribute, or a standard with P-90s. All of them are fantastic guitars.

Gotta post it again, it's soooo nice ... in a mirror.

The music zoo is a very reputable company. And they usually have lots of lefty's in stock. The other choice for us lefty's is southpaw guitars in Texas. Got my 2013 natural burst standard from them.

Yeah that's the SG Standard P90 that they released in 2012, with the baked maple fretboard. A lot of people really like that fretboard in retrospect, and it is a bit of a rarity now.

Thanks for that, good to know. My dealings with them thusfar have been good.

You're not helping! :D

I'm one of the many boring right handed people

:io: I mean it's not your fault, and you do have great taste in guitars and amps... :D

I agree, I wonder why they still have some at the factory? I suppose they didn't sell well - particularly to left-handers hence why no lefthookers were available last year; not enough demand?

I really don't wanna spend the money (although I do have it), but it seems such a nice guitar to give up; one which I may not be able to get again, and the price seems very good. I'm looking into ways of getting it into Korea without paying tax - doing a short term declaration that it's a temporary item (I have to show the guitar when I leave), as I would have already paid tax on it in the good ol USofA. That could work really well for me. The other option is declaring it as a gift or second hand or lower value, but a shiny new Gibson case must be pretty obvious to immigration officials so I'd rather not; I just don't praticularly wanna pay buyer tax twice, both in America and Korea.

Also, have to check DHL costs from the US to Korea. Thommen Music charge 50Euro with DHL, but I've seen quotes upto $200 from US companies; I'm hoping for under $100, but we'll see.

Just to make absolutely sure that I'm not being silly, I'm gonna go to Seoul on Friday then check that I can't find the same/similar guitar here for similar money (I've looked previously and seen nothing, nada, but it has to be worth the effort to look; plus I get an afternoon looking at guitar shops!). :naughty:

The closest I've found in Korea is an SG Faded at $1200, SG Faded at $1450 and an SG standard at $1770, and they're both right handed; I found 1 left handed SG standard at $2000 and it's not as nice (to me) as this P90 2012...

Just checking shipping rates from the US to Korea and it's not looking good - the UK and Europe (which are further with less flights) are around $100. The US shipping companies are talking $300-$400 and some $500. Can that be right?

But...won't your right forearm bump the controls while strumming?? It's weird that the treble horn is longer than the bass horn, too. Are they rejects because the controls are all backward like that? Is that why it's such a good deal?:hmm:

^ that $849 2012 (I think) P90 standard in ebony. But, I was told I'd get a Paypal invoice come through, and that hasn't happened yet. In the mean time, I'm trying to work out other payments such as transportation and tax. I think I can get away with $100 tax - which I can stand. But, I'm finding the US carriers and their online quotations very hard to deal with... I'm upping what I'm prepared to pay to $200, but can I find a carrier that'll do it for that price? If I can, then the guitar will get to me standing me in $1149 which is just, just barely but just manageable/acceptable. It's a bit like that $349 Gibson I saw at Sam ash and was gonna get sent, but the price just double with costs... It's getting messy.

I've always found his prices prohibitive. :(

good deal.posted up a new peddle for ya Boo

Seen it, liked it a lot.

Congrats on the new axe!!! Makes me think of early Black Sabbath!!

It's not a done deal yet for two reasons: 1) I haven't received the Paypal order; 2) I haven't found a carrier at a price I wanna pay. I just converted that $1150 to Korean won and it jumps up to about 1,350,000 Korean won, not good...
