Why are you people so afraid of rap? Are you that childish.
I do not blame anyone who got into rap. JUST LIKE ROCK n ROLL, it came around at a time where the music was dull. Unless you had an older brother or knowlegable parent to show you the good stuff, the rock n roll that was popular was pretty damn bad in the 80's. Rap culture, which was a real movement and a total revolution and rebellion for not only inner-city politics but also a revolution of the airwaves, and I'm not suprised that a whole lot of kids want to listen to that over Winger and Poison.
Fast forward twenty years, and what "rock" is on TV? Daughtry? Nickleback? Hinder? It's horrendous! Even worse than the hair metal of the 80's. Yet still, the performers in hip hop and rap who are the best in the business (for the most part) are on the airwaves.
If the business of rock n roll wasn't so, ROYALLY turded up, we might see younger, more promising and original bands get on TV, and maybe kids would have a reason to listen to rock instead of rap. I was lucky, I had someone to show me what real rock was. But people who have to rely on the charts and on television....I don't blame them for choosing Run DMC over Warrant in the 80's, and I wouldn't blame them for choosing Kanye West over HINDER now...
