But remember at one time even Link wray used a Gibson SG.even so, this is an SG forum... Many of us are SG enthusiasts.
What did you expect us to say?
I was going to say, "just get the SG, whatever you have to do..."
But since that deal fell through, my suggestion now is in tune with a lot of ETSG wisdom:
Get a good SG and keep the Jag, and play both ... for different songs..
As has been said above, these two guitars cover much different ground in the tonal world.
I don't think there's much to compare between the two platforms. So it's good to have both.
I also don't believe that a "custom shop VOS '61" SG is worth the money asked for it.
Me, I play excellent music on two much less expensive SG specials. I don't believe all
the hype and spin that revolves around "vintage" instruments. IMHO it's just blowing smoke.
A fine SG will be an asset to your music, as long as you understand what it does and what
it doesn't do. What the SG doesn't do is likely covered by what the Jag does, or if not, it's
covered by the tones of a good Telecaster.
You can see where I'm going here... give up all the hype and spin concerning 'vintage"
instruments, and play real music on a very real but not so distinguished modern guitar.
Thousands of us, or tens of thousands of us do this every day. We don't fuss over guitars
we can't afford, and we do quite well playing guitars we CAN afford, knowing that the
music and the mojo is in the fingers and the soul, not the VOS.
There it is... I'm finished speaking.
