Anything from this guy i have seen so far just left this feeling that he likes to brag about the guitar he bought and he is talking too much
To the guitar, its a nice interesting SG, but the pickups were pretty awful sounding to me
He has a lot of followers on the youtube surprisingly as he is a lousy player

Yeah, he definitely a collector and not a player. I always skip the playing demos, because it's like, yeah, sounds like a guitar.

I don't get it about this guy, and I never click on his videos.
He's a bit goofy at times, but he is very knowledgable, a self-taught Gibson historian if you will, especially about Les Pauls built in the last 30-odd years. Definitely an acquired taste, but once you get past the "he is who he is" conundrum, he's an entertaining distraction for 15 minutes of your time. As mentioned in my reply to Iaza616, his is more of a collector's channel rather than a player's channel and that won't appeal to everyone. There is a bit of vanity and false humility to him at times, I mean the guy must have at least several hundred-thousand dollars sloshing around that allows him to do what he does, but maybe he's gotten to the point where his YouTube channel is paying for itself? Which, in and of itself, would be rather impressive.

It was my understanding he buys and sells, and funds his private collection purchases out of the proceeds. Presumably he also makes a few bucks from his youtube channel. Fair play to him I say.

It's a useful resource if you're a Les Paul nut, or at least a Gibson nut, but much beyond that, but he does what he does, and if you don't like it, don't watch it.

I wouldn’t draw any conclusions about the pickups based on the Trogly video. He could make a ‘59 burst sound like a cheap department store guitar.

He butters em up because he’s a flipper. That’s his thing. 9 out 10 guitars he shows are getting resold.

He’s a bit of a dork but I like seeing some of the guitars he shows and takes apart to show us the guts.

+$65 shipping 🤪
It does make you wonder how much he bought it for and what his intended profit margin might be. If he paid, like $30,000, then yeah, dick. But if he paid $50,000? Meh, man's gotta eat and the piece is pretty unique.

I think it's clear that he has a fairly large pile of cash from some resource and free time. I doubt that it's just from flipping guitars. It's not from just running a youtube channel except to the extent that he uses it to promote guitars he's selling.

That's what makes me uninterested in his channel.

I was out looking for info on a relatively rare LP when I came across him and his channel for the first time. He was all excited about finding one of these rare LP's. Big grin, overflowing with "I've been looking for this for years. I finally found one!". I was enjoying his excitement at finding a guitar he'd lusted after.

He goes through all the guitar details... then near the end he says "if you like this, it will be up for sale on....". All I could think was "WTF? You find a rare guitar you've been searching for for years - and you're going to flip it?". I lost all interest in his channel. First time was the last time.

I suppose if I run across him again in a search when I'm looking for something specific, I would watch. I'm not biased against the channel. But as a regular thing? No, it's a sales show.

An interesting little slice of Gibson history.

NICE ONE DUDE......did you get one of these 'ANGUS' Guitars ? IDK GIBSON USA WAS EVEN SELLING THEM BACK THEN.....too bad !!! These AC/DC SG's as well as the Iommi and Hendrix SG's will fetch a good $$$$ 25 years from now

IDK tho DUDE, I never want to buy a 'Players' spec'd. guitar.....if I get anything besides a GIBSON 'STANDARD' its going to have to have the specs I WANT on it, not someone else's specs, LOL !!!

BTW, did you ever find an acceptable Bill Ward CLONE ? that could be difficult...
