Good answer, George Lloyd! We see occasional posts by persons who have little feeling for an instrument, and perhaps are backhandedly trying to sell something. Or imagine buying something to turn into a quick profit.
But if you've had this one as long as that, and if you intend to keep it and play it, then I wish you better than well. The idea of making a good player out of something that's been abused appeals to many of us. So persevere! Show us more photos as you do.
There's another thread around here called the '70s Appreciation thread, and you should take some more photos and post them there... you'll be in company with others who own these old war horses, as well as 'blokes' like me who own a '70s tribute SG and a Fender '72 Tele Deluxe replica.

anyway, someone who keeps an SG near his computer tuned in open G sounds more like a comrade than a huckster, so Welcome again.
